BANBURY TOWN BADMINTON LEAGUE 24/10/2010

Chipping Norton opened their mens division three campaign with a 6-3 success over Deddington ‘C’, which featured an excellent unbeaten display by two newcomers to the league, Tom Howard and Thomas Smallwood. After their opening rubber success over Oliver Tindale and Max Watkins by 30-28 and 21-19 Howard and Smallwood continued to impress throughout to remain unbeaten. Jay Moore with Matt Molyneux and Barry Buzzard with Andy Fleet completed the successful Chipping Norton line up. Deddington ‘C’ soon returned to winning ways, with unbeaten displays by Mark Tyler with Martin Leadham and Ted Webb with Liam Authers laying the foundation for a 7-2 victory over Marlborough ‘C’. Oliver Mason with Raymond Chan gained their first league point for Marlborough while Phil Hassell with R.Heaverman secured Marlborough’s other rubber.
Following relegation last season, Feathers ‘B’ appear to be enjoying themselves in the mens division two and look on course for a quick return to the top flight, following victories over Three B’s by 7-2 and Bicester ‘B’ by 6-3. Unbeaten displays came from Scott Manley with William Croft and Jamie Archer with Roric Pennington against Three B’s, while William Croft also won all of his three rubbers with Del Roberts, against Bicester ‘B’.
Reigning mens division one champions, Feathers ‘A’, continued where they left off last season, with impressive unbeaten displays by Jack Smith with Jamie Archer and by Stuart Quick with Ian Tustian instrumental in an 8-1 success over Deddington ‘A’. Bicester secured a 6-3 victory over Feathers ‘B’ in the mixed division one thanks to the endeavours of Jan Szandala, Duncan Soanes, Dave Bone, Heather Harrington, Bea Foster and Katie Chambers. Down, but not for long, as Feathers ‘B’ in the form of Stuart Quick, Jamie Archer, Ian Tustian, Victoria Tait, Hayley Hart and Leigh-Ann Dunlop returned to winning ways with an 8-1 victory over Marlborough ‘A’. Owing to a lack of ladies, Feathers ‘C’ ended up conceding six rubbers and losing by 9-0 to Three B’s in the mixed division two. Back to something like full strength, Darrell Hawkins, William Croft, Del Roberts, Nicola Isted, Leigh-Ann Dunlop and Laura Dee provided the firepower for Feathers ‘C’ to beat Deddington ‘B’ by 6-3.
In the ladies division two Vicki Tait, Leigh-Ann Dunlop, Nicola Isted and Yvonne Quick combined to give Feathers’B’ a 5-1 success over Brackley Town.
