BANBURY TOWN BADMINTON LEAGUE 5/2/2012
Bicester ladies showed that they may still be a force to be reckoned with in the ladies division two after they earned a 3-3 draw against the league leaders, Feathers ‘B’ , and followed up with an impressive 6-0 success over Brackley Town ladies, in what was a much closer encounter than the scoreline suggests. In the 3-3 draw with Feathers ‘B’, Bicester’s Heather Warrington remained unbeaten in partnerships with Katie Chambers, Hannah West and Karen Amin, aginst Feathers ‘B’s, Vicki Dunlop, Leigh-Ann Dunlop, Liz Lane and Yvonne Quick. The added experience of Tanja Keeble and Bea Foster proved crucial in the encounter with Brackley Town, as they joined Heather Warrington and Karen Amin in what was a very successful combination, winning by 6-0, despite some valiant performances from the Brackley Town ladies.
Feathers’B’ collected valuable points from their mixed division one trip to Brackley and Towcester, winning a tight encounter by 5-4. The match scoreline fluctuated one way then another, but the second mixed proved crucial, with Feathers Ian Tustian and the seemingly unbeatable, Hayley Hart, winning 21-13, 21-11, to secure the fifth rubber. Ian Wright with Charleigh Feltham won the final mixed rubber for the Brackley and Towcester team. Jamie Archer, Richard Bennett, Victoria Tait and Laura Dee completed the successful Feathers ‘B’ line up. Brackley/Towcester wasted no time in returning to winning ways, when Paul Beckett, Barry Stock, Cameron Hook, Nicola Scrivens, Gill Burman and Mary Grashoff combined to beat Deddington ‘A’ by 9-0.
Cramic’C’ won a highly competitive match with Marlborough ‘B’ by 5-4 in the mixed division three. Marlborough won all three mens rubbers through Paul Winch, Adam Parle and Jesse Hayesmoore but Cramic levelled at 3-3 after Lynda Blades, Emma Bingham and Marjorie Morris took all three ladies rubbers. Victories in the first two mixed rubbers by David Blades with Emma Bingham and Colin Hirons with Lynda Blades secured the 5-4 victory for Cramic ‘C’.
